Kubi Software Appoints Vice
Presidents of Business Development and Engineering
Strengthens World-Class Management
Team; Continues Momentum from DEMO Debut and DEMOgod™ Award Win
LINCOLN, Mass. - March 12, 2003 - Kubi Software, Inc. today announced the
appointments of Steve O'Neill and Bob Preble as vice presidents of Business
Development and Engineering, respectively. Collectively bringing more than 40
years of experience and track records of success in delivering enterprise
software to the global marketplace, O'Neill and Preble round out Kubi's
world-class management team.
Kubi Software is delivering the first Collaborative Email solutions - a new
class of business software that combines the power of collaborative
capabilities with the familiarity and ease of use of Email - to the
marketplace. The company's first product, Kubi Client, was successfully
introduced at the elite DEMO 2003 conference, where Kubi Software was one of
only six (out of 61) companies named a DEMOgod. In the three weeks since that
introduction, more than 300 corporations have applied to be part of the Kubi
Software Beta Program, which is now under way.
"The initial response to Kubi Client supports our vision that collaborative
software should be a natural extension of the application that people live in
every day - Email," said John Shagoury, president of Kubi Software. "Our
approach is being validated by unprecedented interest from potential partners
and customers. Our management team has a wealth of experience in successfully
identifying and capturing enterprise software opportunities, and the addition
of Steve and Bob will strengthen these efforts."
As Vice President of Business Development, Steve O'Neill will be responsible for
all business development activities, including strategic partnerships and
new-market development initiatives. O'Neill holds more than 20 years of
technology experience and a proven track record of driving business development
initiatives. He joins Kubi Software from web publishing solution provider
Trellix Corporation, where he served as an executive vice president. During his
tenure at Trellix, O'Neill built and managed the business development group,
and was instrumental in closing some of the company's largest deals with
organizations that included HP, Dell, Compaq, and Amazon.com. He also played a
key role in securing Trellix's $35 million mezzanine round of financing.
Prior to Trellix, O'Neill was the vice president of business development for QoS
networking solution provider Sitara Networks. Earlier, he had served as vice
president of business development for e-marketplace provider Nets Inc. and vice
president of alliances and business development for Lotus Development Corp.
O'Neill has also held various management positions within Banyan Systems, Skok
Systems, and HP.
As Vice President of Engineering, Bob Preble will be responsible for all aspects
of development, quality engineering, and support. Preble brings more than 20
years of software engineering expertise and a track record for managing tight
product schedules, while maintaining the highest levels of software quality. He
also has expertise in driving product localization efforts in multiple
countries simultaneously. Preble also joins Kubi Software from Trellix
Corporation, where he served as vice president of engineering. While at
Trellix, he managed significant localization projects for the European and
South American markets.
Previously, Preble was at Lotus Development Corp., where he held a number of
senior management roles including general manager of the Graphics Product Group
and senior director of development. At Lotus, Preble was instrumental in
bringing a number of products from concept to market - including localization
for Europe, South America, and the Far East - that resulted in yearly revenues
of $120 million.
About Kubi Client
Responding to the overwhelming preference of business users for collaborating
in Email, Kubi Client consolidates all of the information and tools people need
to work on projects - including messages, documents, calendars, contacts,
tasks, and timelines - into a single view, within Email. For the first time,
users of Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes can truly collaborate with each
other, extending the ability of teams to work together within organizations as
well as with external partners. Kubi Client automatically synchronizes project
spaces within Email, while protecting sensitive documents and restricting
access to only invited team members.
Kubi Software's innovation includes both its user-centric approach to the
application interface and its baseline protocol technologies. The company has
created a new, patent-pending protocol that is SMTP-based, to leverage the
worldwide messaging network; XML-formatted, to unify the differences between
competing Email platforms; and PKI-secured, to transparently encrypt and
authenticate sensitive data.
